Spectrum Speed Shop

California's Newest Motorcycle Race Shop

Spectrum motorsports is proud to announce a new and exciting joint venture with Neil Freeman (NFRacing) to create a new performance and tuning shop catering to needs of racers, fast bikes, and track-day riders. This venture is called Spectrum Speed Shop.

Spectrum Speed Shop is fully equipped to look after any make and model, old or new, and is located in the same building as the already existing service department of Spectrum Motorsports. The objective is the building of top-competitive race engines, develop and fine-tune complete race bikes to compete in national and club races as well as track-day machines. With Neil’s extensive knowledge of Italian and Japanese machines all your needs can be addressed in one shop. Services are all inclusive from dialing-in suspension to an exact track, fully complete Superbike preparation, and precision engine building to factory specifications of motors old and new.

Neil Freeman has been involved in the motorsports industry for over 20 years. His craftsmanship and technical knowledge goes beyond the average mechanic.  Neil has been a motorcycle technician for most of his working life and is dedicated to the sport of motorcycles. Starting as an apprentice technician in England at the age of 18 in one of the UK’ s largest Ducati and Suzuki dealerships. There he began his career in professional racing in the British Club and National Championships.
In 1997 he began working with the Factory Suzuki British Superbike team as a race technician and engine builder, culminating in winning the British Supersport Championship in 1998-1999 with John Crawford in addition to winning the 750cc Isle of Man TT production race with Mark Flynn, and many other races in the U.K. all the while participating in World Superbike rounds with the Factory Suzuki team.

In 2000 Neil began working at the UK’s largest Ducati store where he was the Chief technician and race engine builder. His duties were very hands on and detailed. Customers would come to him from all over the country and beyond to have their Ducatis tailored to their specific needs, whether it be for road use or professional competition. Dozens of his bikes have had very successful campaigns over the years, and some still compete to this day.

In 2003 Neil was contacted by Jamey Mazzotta’s Spectrum Motorsports and offered a position in California’s newest Ducati dealership. He began working at Spectrum Motorsports as an authority on Ducati motorcycles. He trained the service staff and look after customers. This led to him being offered the position as race technician and engine builder with the newly formed Ducati AMA factory team with the Bostrom brothers Eric and Ben and Neil Hodgson. During his tenure he quickly became chief engine builder and lead mechanic for the Bostroms. During the off season Neil would live and work in Italy at the Ducati Corse race shop in Bologna, building factory superbike engines for the upcoming season.

In 2006 he was offered the position of crew chief with the AMA Factory Kawasaki team with 3 time AMA champion Jamie Hacking and jumped at this new and exciting challenge. His duties were to oversee all aspects of the Superbike and Supersport Bike from start to finish. This involved full fabrication and development of the ZX10R Superbike and ZX6R Supersport machines into race winning and regular podium finish bikes, Neil was involved in all aspects of the machine from engine building to the design and fabrication of fuel tanks and swingarms.

Today Neil has returned to Spectrum Motorsports and is looking forward very much to working with the Spectrum team again at California's Premier Ducati Dealer. No job is to big or to small and you will be taken care of with an attention to detail and a level of professionalism that very few workshops or dealerships in the world can offer. So whatever your motorcycle needs, call and have a chat with Neil and set up a date to go over your specifics and together, you and your bike will be at that next level you seek.
